KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Three Tennessee men's golf team members earned PING All-Region honors for the 2020-21 season, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.
Â
Spencer Cross, Hunter Wolcott and Bryce Lewis were all named All-Southeast Region, marking Tennessee's most all-region selections in one year since 2009. In a season that saw Tennessee qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2013, Cross, Wolcott and Lewis all registered impressive seasons.
Â
Tennessee's highest finisher in four of its spring tournaments, Cross' spring stroke average was third on the team at 71.96. The Sevierville native recorded six top-25 finishes over the course of the season, including a fourth-place finish at the SEC Championships.
Â
Also having been named a Second Team All-SEC selection, Wolcott led the Vols in stroke average for the 2020-21 season with a 71.33 mark and tied for the team lead with 19 rounds of par or better.
Â
Ranging from February to May, Wolcott strung together six straight top-20 finishes—including a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Noblesville Regional. Overall, Wolcott led the team with eight total top-25 finishes. The Burns, Tennessee, native also tied for second place at the Blessings Collegiate back in the fall.
Â
In just his second season competing with the Vols, Lewis led the team in multiple statistical categories, including spring stroke average (71.72) and counting rounds (30), while tying with Wolcott for the team lead in rounds par or better (19) and top 10 finishes (three).
Â
Lewis was also the lone Vol to claim an individual title, winning The Country Club of Birmingham Invitational in April. Lewis was also the only Vol to make the individual cut at the NCAA Championships, eventually tying for 44th place overall.
