#SwimTrials21: Small Finishes Fifth in 200 IM Final

OMAHA, Neb. – LVFL Meghan Small finished fifth in the 200m IM final Wednesday night at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on night four of the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials.
Small touched the wall in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.65. She was the second Lady Vol to reach the finals at trials, joining Molly Hannis who swam in Tuesday night's 100m breaststroke final.
The Wave II eight-day trials competition serves as the sole qualifier for swimmers on the U.S. Olympic Team for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The top 16 times out of the preliminary heats will form the semifinals for all events at 200m or less, with the top eight semifinalists advancing to finals. In events 400m or longer, the top eight swimmers out of the preliminary heats will head straight to the finals.
Athletes will earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team roster at each of the eight finals sessions.
200-Meter Butterfly
UT had a trio of incoming Lady Vols competing in the 200m butterfly prelims on Wednesday, featuring Summer Smith, Sara Stotler and Kate McCarville.
Smith placed 21st in 2:13.35, Stotler followed in 26th at 2:13.93 and McCarville finished 31st in 2:15.64.
Wave II trails enter its fifth day Thursday with prelims of the women's freestyle 100m, men's backstroke 200m, women's breaststroke 200m and men's medley 200m.
