May 23, 2021 | Women's Golf
SCOTTSDALE, Az. â Tennessee's Mikayla Bardwell completed the third round of stroke play at the NCAA Championship on Sunday.
Â
Bardwell's round three was highlighted by a hat trick, as the junior from Lewisville, Texas, birdied holes four, five and six after teeing off day three from hole 10.
Â
"It was awesome to be able to have the opportunity to compete at the National Championship this year," Bardwell said. "Although I didn't score the way we would've hoped, I learned a lot about the course and I will be ready to compete in the fall and get the team back here for next year's National Championship.
Â
"It was great to finally see some putts rolling in late in the round today. That gave me a lot of confidence going into this summer and next fall."
Â
After shooting +4 (76) on Sunday, Bardwell wrapped up competition in Arizona tied for 97th with a three-day score of +14 (230).
Â
Bardwell's three consecutive birdies as the end of round three neared momentarily brought her score in her back nine to 1-under, but two late bogeys moved her back above par for the back nine.
Â
As her junior campaign comes to a close, Bardwell recorded four top-seven finishes and scored in the 60s on four occasions in her third year on Rocky Top.
Â
As for the team leaderboard, Stanford leads the field at -18, with Duke (+2) and Oklahoma State (+4) rounding out the top three.
