UT Qualifies 40 Entries For NCAA East Preliminary Rounds

INDIANAPOLIS — Tennessee track & field will send 31 athletes to Jacksonville, Florida, next week for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds, as final declarations were released Thursday afternoon. The four-day meet will be hosted May 26-29 at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
Between the UT men's and women's squads, Tennessee has 30 individuals and two relay teams totaling 40 entries at the regional competition. The top-12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA National Championships, which will be held June 9-12 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Tennessee's group in Jacksonville will feature 15 top-12 seeds, highlighted by graduate student Jah-Nhai Perinchief who owns the East region's top mark in the men's triple jump at 16.89m (55-5). Additional top-5 individual seeds for the Big Orange include Maia McCoy (No. 4 seed - 100m), Latavia Maines (No. 3 seed - shot put), Darryl Sullivan (No. 2 seed - high jump) and Carey McLeod (No. 2 seed - long jump).
