Lady Vol Trio Posts Solid Start to Auburn Diving Invitational
December 15, 2021 | Swimming & Diving
AUBURN, Ala. – Three Lady Vols earned top-five finishes on the 1-meter springboard during the first day of the Auburn Diving Invitational on Wednesday.
Â
Grace Cable finished second in the event with a score of 285.15. Emily Ann Wolfson recorded a solid performance, improving her prelim score by more than 30 points to take third with a mark of 272.70. Elle Renner placed fourth after notching a score of 272.40. All three performances were NCAA Zone qualifying scores.
Â
Madison Reese posted a 246.20 mark, while Kara Holt rounded things out with a score of 235.45. All five Lady Vols improved their 1-meter scorers from the prelims to the finals on the day.
"We had a really encouraging day to begin the Auburn Diving Invitational," diving coach Dave Parrington said. "In the prelims, Grace was really solid, and Elle dove really nicely. Even though she didn't place as high in the finals, Elle still improved her score in the finals. The others were solid in the prelims. Emily Ann really stepped up big in the finals, though. She had a 30-point jump and flat out competed. It was really nice to see that kind of performance out of her today. Grace was second in the finals and was a steady performer all day long. I was really happy with her performance and same with Elle. Maddie and Kara were both solid throughout the day. We are off to a really good start for this meet, and I'm excited to see how we perform tomorrow."
Â
Day two of the invite will be on Thursday and will feature the men's 1-meter at noon followed by the women's 3-meter at 4 p.m.
