PREVIEW: Swim & Dive at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tennessee swimming & diving returns to action Friday with a meet against Kentucky at Lancaster Aquatic Center at 2 p.m.

The seventh-ranked Lady Vols will take on the No. 12 Wildcats, while the 17th-ranked Vols will face the Kentucky men, who received votes in the preseason CSCAA Top 25. The Tennessee men swept UK during both dual meets last season, while the women split matchups. The meet will be streamed live on SEC Network+, and fans can follow along with live results on the Meet Mobile app.Â

UT is coming off a pair of ranked wins against another Bluegrass State foe in Louisville. The Vols upset the seventh-ranked Cardinals in a tight contest. The Lady Vols cruised past UL's No. 13 women's team with the top times/scores in 15 of the 16 events.

Sophomore Mona McSharry earned her second straight SEC Female Swimmer of the Week recognition following the meet, as the Dublin, Ireland, native swept the breaststroke events with a pair of NCAA B Cut times. It was the seventh SEC weekly honor UT has received this year.

For the season, Tennessee owns the top times in the SEC in five events on the women's side (200 FR, 200 BK, 100 BR, 200 BR, 200 IM) and two events on the men's (100 BR, 200 BR). Two of the Lady Vols' top times are owned by freshmen: Julia Mrozinski (200 free) and Summer Smith (200 back).

The Tennessee Invitational is just a couple weeks away, as the Vols and Lady Vols host one of the nation's top invites on Nov. 18-20 at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. Among the teams slated to compete, three squads are ranked on both the men's and women's side. The teams coming to the invitational will be Virginia (#1 women/#9 men), Alabama (#14/#20), Arkansas, South Carolina, UNLV and Carson-Newman.
