Vols in Fourth Through Opening Round at Blessings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Tennessee men's golf opened its fall season Monday at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, coming in at fourth place through one round after shooting even par for the day.
The Vols narrowly trail second and third place teams Ole Miss (3-under) and Illinois (2-under) heading into round two. Individually, senior Spencer Cross and redshirt senior Tyler Johnson gave Tennessee its best scores of the day.
Coming off of a spring in which he was the Vols' top finisher in four of eight tournaments, Cross shot 1-under, while Johnson, making his second appearance as a member of the Vols' lineup since the beginning of last season, also shot 1-under.
Cross and Johnson are tied for 10th place entering round two, just two strokes out of second place and four strokes out of the overall lead.
Just behind Cross and Johnson in round one was Jake Hall, who shot even for the day and enters Tuesday tied for 16th place. Hall carded three birdies and an eagle over the course of the tournament's first round.
Giving Tennessee its final round one counting score was redshirt senior Hunter Wolcott, who shot 2-over and is tied for 26th place. Last season at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, Wolcott shot a three-round total of 4-under and tied for second place.
Redshirt sophomore Bryce Lewis shot 4-over on Monday and heads into round two tied for 38th place.
