Pintar, Nevin Earn NSCA All-America Honors
September 15, 2020 | Men's Golf, Swimming & Diving
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Tennessee student-athletes Tjasa Pintar (swimming & diving) and Rhys Nevin (men's golf) have received the National Strength and Conditioning Association's All-American Athlete Award.
Â
Pintar, a senior from Ljubljana, Slovenia, and a 2016 Olympian, has been a key contributor for the Lady Vols' swimming and diving squad since her arrival on Rocky Top. She is a two-time SEC gold medal winner and a four-time All-American. Pintar helped the Lady Vols win their first SEC championship in 2020.
Â
"Tjasa Pintar is one of the most enjoyable student-athletes I have ever worked with," Associate Director of Olympic Sports Performance Greg Adamson said. "Her hunger for growth and development is unmatched and the key to her success is consistency and intensity. She attacks every session with a purpose to improve. Last year she also took on a leadership role within our Savage Training program. She has become someone that the team can rely on and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with her day in and day out."
Â
Nevin, a graduate senior from Cheshire, England, earned All-SEC Second Team honors in 2020 and was named Division I PING All-America Honorable mention in 2019-20. He also earned a spot on the PING All-Southeast Region in 2019-20. Nevin has five top-five finishes in his UT career.
Â
"Rhys has a quality that every high performer I've ever been around possesses, and that is honest self-evaluation," Adamson said. "His ability to communicate and be honest in his self-evaluation has led to us being able to work together and build out an elite high level plan that he has taken complete ownership of. His improvements in overall explosiveness, mobility and recovery have helped him truly elevate his game to the level of an All-American in the performance center and on the golf course. Personally, I am blessed to work with him and learn from him daily. I cannot wait to see what he accomplishes this season.
