
Program-Record Five Vols Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

The five Vols are part of 376 golfers in Division I to receive the honor
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A program-record five Tennessee men's golfers were honored as a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Wednesday.

Spencer Cross, Rhys Nevin, Chase Roswall, Chip Thomas and Hunter Wolcott were the Vols who received recognition, more than doubling Tennessee's total of two honorees from last year.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40 percent of the team's competitive rounds.

This year's honor marks the second in a row for Nevin, who was one of the two Vols honored in 2019. Nevin, along with Wolcott, also received his degree from UT back in May.

The five individual honors also come on the heels of the men's golf team as a whole posting a 3.64 team GPA for the spring 2020 semester.
