
Tennessee Sends Nine to Pan Am Games

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee is represented by seven current and former student-athletes and two coaches at the 2019 Pan American Games which are currently underway in Lima, Peru.
Director of Swimming and Diving Matt Kredich is serving as the men's swimming head coach for Team USA. This marks consecutive Pan Am Games Kredich has served as a Team USA head coach, having previously directed the women's team in 2015.
Joining him on the coaching side is assistant swimming coach Rich Murphy who is on the open water staff.
Molly Hannis, a 2016 Olympian and VFL, is swimming for the United States in the 100 breaststroke. Rising senior Meghan Small will compete for the US National Team in the 200 individual medley and 200 butterfly.
Tess Cieplucha, a rising senior, will swim the 200 breast and 400 IM for the Canadian National team. Rounding out the Tennessee swimming representatives is Taylor Abbott who will swim in the 10K open water race for Team USA.
Track and Field All-American and VFL Shania Collins is representing the United States and is listed as one of several runners who could be called upon to run the 4x100 meter relay, an event she earned Second Team All-America honors in during the 2018 outdoor season.
Rising sophomore Martina Weil will represent Chile, running as a member of the 4x400 meter relay. Weil earned Second Team All-America accolades in the event this past season.
Monica Abbott will pitch for Team USA in the Pan American Games where the USA Softball team will look to capture its ninth Gold medal at the games. The US National Team is 93-4 all-time at the Pan Am Games. Women's softball action runs Aug. 4-10.
