The 2019-20 slate features two trips abroad as well as tournaments at some of the nation's most historic courses
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Women's Golf Coach Judi Pavon announced the 2019-20 Lady Vol schedule on Monday.
The schedule features nine regular season tournaments before the start of postseason at the annual SEC Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
After starting the season at the Cougar Classic (Sept. 9-10) for the 11th time in program history, the Lady Vols come back to Knoxville to host the 22nd annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Cherokee Country Club on Sept. 16-17.
For the second consecutive season, Tennessee will travel outside of the country to compete. The Lady Vols fall schedule finishes in the Bahamas at the UH Invitational at the end of October. They then travel to Guadalajara, Mexico to start the spring season in February at the Guadalajara International Invitational hosted by Virginia.
The fall schedule is also highlighted by a trip to Old Waverly Golf Course in October for the Old Waverly hosted by Mississippi State. Old Waverly Golf Course is the home of the 2019 US Women's Amateur in August where Tennessee will have two players competing.
A week before playing in Mississippi, the Lady Vols will also take part in the Illini Women's Invitational at historic Medinah Country Club which has hosted three US Open's (1949, 1975 and 1990), two PGA Championships (1999 and 2006) and the 2012 Ryder Cup.
The backend of the regular season slate sees the Lady Vols travel to tournaments hosted by Florida (March 7-8), Georgia (March 20-22) and Auburn (March 27-29) before heading into postseason play.
The Liz Murphey hosted by Georgia could be especially helpful come postseason as the University of Georgia Golf Club is one of four NCAA Regional host sites.
Tennessee was one of 24 schools to advance out of the regionals last season, competing in their 14th NCAA Championship and 12th in the Pavon era. This season's NCAA Championships will be hosted by Arizona State from May 22-27 at Greyhawk Country Club in Tempe, Ariz.
