Vols Total Six PRs, Six Top-5 Finishes to Wrap Up Tiger Paw Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. -- The Tennessee track & field program totaled six top-5 finishes and six personal records Saturday as the Vols wrapped up action at the Tiger Paw Invite inside Clemson's Indoor Track & Field Facility.

WIN STREAK: High-jump specialist Darryl Sullivan claimed his third-straight first-place finish at Clemson, clearing a height of 2.15m (7-0.5). The junior from Marion, Ill. had the bar raised to 2.32m (7-7.25) for a shot at the school record and No. 2 mark in the world this season, but was unsuccessful in his three allotted attempts.
ADDICTED TO PRs: Senior captain Maia McCoy was the headliner once again with her fourth PR of the meet, clocking a time of 23.12 in the 200m dash to place second overall in the Tiger Paw's invitational section. Her mark currently ranks 9th in the NCAA and 5th in the SEC this season, as well as being tabbed No. 4 on Tennessee's all-time indoor list.

VOLS LOG SEASON-BEST 200M: Tennessee seniors Mustaqeem Williams and Kwantreyl McConico each recorded their fastest 200m dash times of the 2019 indoor campaign at Clemson. Williams earned a fourth-place finish in 20.89 for the quickest time by a Vol this season, while McConico crossed the line at 21.14 for his season-best mark to place seventh at the meet.

SCARVELIS STRIKES SILVER: UT weight throw standout Stamatia Scarvelis has finished first or second in all four weight throw competitions she has competed in this season, continuing that trend Saturday with a second-place result at the Tiger Paw Invite. The Santa Barbara, Calif. native hurled the 20-pound weight 22.21m (72-10.5) for her second-best throw of the 2019 campaign.

WEIL'S DEBUT SPARKS WOMEN'S 4X4: The Tennessee women's 4x400m relay squad of Lenysse Dyer, Brooklynn Broadwater, Martina Weil and Layla White posted a season-best time of 3:35.73 to wrap up the meet Saturday afternoon. Weil, a mid-year enrollee from Santiago, Chile, logged UT's fastest split at 53.31 seconds.

DISTANCE PRs DOMINATE HEATS: Tennessee newcomers Joe Hoots and Brayden Hamblen each won their respective heats with personal records in the 800m and 3,000m at Clemson. Hoots' mark of 1:54.61 was the fastest of five Vols in the 800m, as the true freshman won his heat by 0.88 seconds. Hamblen - a sophomore transfer out of Illinois - clocked a lifetime-best 8:39.06 to beat the next-closest competitor by more than five seconds.

NOTABLE FINISHES: Tristan Slater earned a top-4 finish in the men's pole vault for the fifth-straight meet, taking fourth place at Clemson with a clearance of 5.16m / 16-11. Additionally, Jalen Tate placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.42m / 50-7.25 in his first meet action since Jan. 18.
