T to Green with Nolan Ray

Redshirt junior Nolan Ray is featured in the third edition of the "T to Green" series with members of the 2018-19 University of Tennessee men's golf team.

What is your favorite moment of your golf career?
Making a 30 footer for birdie on 18 to qualify for the US Junior. It really jump-started my career.

What is your favorite part of attending the University of Tennessee?
The comradery between all of the athletes here. I feel like I have friends from so many sports and from all over the world.

What athletic accomplishment are you most proud of?
Our team winning the Kingsmill Intercollegiate by one stroke my redshirt freshman year. It was my first win and it was really special to me.

Do you have a favorite professional golfer?
Brandt Snedeker, Scott Stallings, and Peter Malnati

What is your major?
Accounting

What is one random fact about you?
My parent's names are Don and Dawn.

Favorite hobbies outside of golf?
Fishing, Snow Skiing, and hockey.

Favorite vacation spot?
Breckenridge, Colo.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream

Anything country music

How would you describe your personality?
Focused when I need to be, but when I'm away from golf or school just easy going.

Buy a private jet

What is the best advice someone has ever given you
Hang around people who are pulling for you. The world has so many things pulling against you, don't surround yourself with people who just add to that.

Hockey

My dad

What is one item on your "bucket list"?
Ski in Swiss Alps

What is your favorite thing about being on the golf team at the University of Tennessee?
The friends I've made here and how we all push each other to be better.

Was there a moment when you knew you wanted to come to the University of Tennessee?
After visiting the second time I just knew it was the place for me. The culture here isn't like anywhere else
