Wolcott Named Tennessee Amateur Golfer of the Year

Tennessee redshirt junior golfer Hunter Wolcott has been named the 2019 Tennessee Amateur Golfer of the Year, the Tennessee Golf Association announced Tuesday.
The Burns, Tennessee, native accumulated 250 points in the Men's Player of the Year competition over the course of the year to edge out the rest of the field.
In June, Wolcott shot 13-under and won the 71st Tennessee State Open Championship. He also registered standout performances at the Northeast Amateur (T-18th) and Sunnehanna Amateur (T-12th).
Wolcott becomes the third Vol to win the award, joining Ricky Gregg (1978) and Gibby Gilbert (1988). His father, Bob, is a three-time winner of the award (1980, 1982 & 1983).
With the Vols this fall, Wolcott recorded two top-10 finishes, coming in second (-4) at the Intercollegiate at the Grove and tying for 10th (-7) at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. This spring, Wolcott looks to build on a redshirt sophomore season that saw him record eight top-25 finishes.
