Webb Announces the Signing of Saunders and Skeen

The 2020 class features top junior college golfer in George Saunders and top in-state product Jackson Skeen
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Tennessee men's golf coach Brennan Webb announced the signing of two players on Thursday.
The second-year head coach continues to add top talent from the state of Tennessee and abroad, signing Jackson Skeen and George Saunders. In Skeen, the Vols add a top-150 ranked player in the 2020 class by Junior Golf Scoreboard while Saunders comes in off the heels of back-to-back top-20 finishes at the English Men's Amateur.

With the addition of Skeen, the Vols will have 11 players from the state heading into the 2020-21 season.
"Jackson (Skeen) has had a very successful career competing at the highest levels of junior golf and we are thrilled to add another Tennessee junior golfer to our roster," Coach Webb said.
The Jonesborough, Tennessee native claimed the 2018 TSSAA Class AAA Individual Championship, shooting 71 (-1). He was the first individual state champion in Science Hill High School history and helped his team to a 13-stroke victory in the state championship. He has earned All-State honors in 2016 and 2018 while being named the BIG 7 Conference Player of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
On the AJGA circuit, Skeen has claimed nine top-20 finished including a win at the Sneds Tour Elite. He picked up a top-5 finish at the Tennessee State Junior while also placing inside of the top 20 at the Tennessee State Amateur in 2018.

In Saunders, Tennessee adds one of the top English amateur golfers and adds to the great lineage of Vol golfers from England in program history.
"George will bring a wealth of experience to our roster, which will be important as we will lose eight upperclassmen in the next two years," Coach Webb said. "He has had a tremendous amount of success in amateur golf around the world, as well as college golf the last two years at Midland."
During the 2019 amateur season, Saunders has competed at the Amateur Championship, the English Men's Amateur Championship, the Walton Heath Trophy and the St. Andrew Links Trophy.
He claimed a top-10 finish at the Walton Heath Trophy and a top-20 finish at the English Men's Amateur Championship.
Saunders also comes in as one of the top junior college golfers in the country, competing for Midland College (TX) the last two seasons. Last season at the NJCAA Division I Golf Championship, he tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard at 7-under-par and helped his team to a third place finish.
