CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Tennessee swimming and diving team resumes the dual meet schedule with a Friday competition against Virginia.Â
The meet starts with diving at 10 a.m. and swimming at 1 p.m. at the University of Virginia Aquatic and Fitness Center.Â
The meet will be streamed as an ACC Network Extra event and will be available on Watch ESPN.
BACK TO COMPETITION: Friday marks Tennessee's first dual meet since a home meet against Auburn and the Texas men Nov. 9. The Lady Vols defeated Auburn, while the Tennessee men defeated Auburn but lost to the defending champion Longhorns. Tennessee later hosted the three-day Tennessee Invitational to close out the semester, which featured school records by Mathew Dunphy (men's 200-yard breaststroke, 1:53.76) and Tess Cieplucha (women's 400 IM, 4:03.81).Â
LAST TIME VS. VIRGINIA: Tennessee split results in a home meet against Virginia last year. Behind a four-victory performance by Kyle DeCoursey, the Vols defeated the Cavaliers 198-100. The Lady Vols lost 177-123.Â
VIRGINIA HOME: Three members of the Tennessee squad are from the state of Virginia: senior Madeline Banic (Midlothian), freshman Danika Katzer (Yorktown) and freshman Patrick Townsend (Mechanicsville). Banic, a team captain, is an eight-time All-American and a six-time SEC gold medalist, which including the 50-yard freestyle title as a sophomore.Â
UP NEXT: Tennessee is on the final stretch of the dual meet season. The team hosts Georgia on Jan. 26 for a senior day, home finale at 11 a.m. The meet will be broadcast on SEC Network. The Vols close the regular season with a meet at Florida on Feb. 2. Â
