Vols Release 2018 Cross Country Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Starting with a home meet in three weeks, the Tennessee cross country schedule was released Thursday.Â
The Vols open 2018 with a head-to-head dual meet against Louisville on Aug. 31 at the Cherokee Farm Cross Country Course. Tennessee follows with multi-team meets at Auburn (Sept. 7), Wisconsin (Sept. 28) and UAB (Oct. 12).Â
Postseason starts Oct. 26 with the SEC Championships, which will also be hosted by Auburn. The NCAA South Regional Championships are at Florida State, and Wisconsin hosts the NCAA finals at the Zimmer Championship Course.Â
Beth Alford-Sullivan is entering her fifth season as Tennessee's director of track and field and cross country. The young men's team made strides up the cross country standings last year, placing fifth at both the SEC and NCAA South Regional championships.Â
Senior Zach Long (Rutledge, Tenn.) and junior Megan Murray (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned USTFCCCA all-region honors last season and are returning this season. Long is coming off a banner track season in which he set school records in the indoor 3,000 meter and outdoor 5,000 meter.Â
