Big Orange Friday Initiative Launches Today

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Athletics Department and the University of Tennessee have teamed up to turn Knoxville Orange on Fridays. Starting on Aug. 24, Vol fans are encouraged to wear Tennessee orange on Fridays in support of the Vols and the Lady Vols.

Big Orange Friday is an initiative created to engage the community, residents and fans with Tennessee Athletics and the university by wearing orange on Friday every week.

Every Friday, fans who wear Tennessee orange will receive discounts at Knoxville-area stores, restaurants and service providers. Fans can visit BigOrangeFriday.com for an updated list of participating sponsors, discounts and activities surrounding Big Orange Friday.

The Tennessee volleyball team kicks off Big Orange Friday with its home-opener against 22nd-ranked Michigan State today at 8 p.m. ET in Thompson-Boling Arena. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a Big Orange Friday shirt. A printable free admission voucher to the match is available on BigOrangeFriday.com.

Throughout the year, fans can check the Big Orange Friday website to see updates on deals and opportunities to get rewarded for wearing orange. Fans can show their Big Orange pride on social media every week by using the hashtag #BigOrangeFriday.

All of Vol Nation--both local and country-wide--can take part in Big Orange Friday by posting on social media for the chance to win various prizes every week.

In addition to Big Orange Friday, Friday, Aug. 31 is also College Colors Day, a nation-wide initiative to encourage all fans to show their college colors prior to the kickoff of the college football season.
