Scalise Leads Vols Through Round One Of NCAA Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Lorenzo Scalise paced Tennessee during round one of the NCAA Columbus Regional on Monday.

The first-team All-SEC selection turned in a 2-over 73 on the day to grab a tie for 18th place.

The competition is taking place at the OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course, a par-71, 7,364-yard layout.

As a team, Tennessee is tied for 11th place after the first day. The Vols shot a 22-over 306 during the opening round, which featured a delay of just over an hour after lightning was detected in the area.

The Big Orange's second-best round came from sophomore Brayden Garrison, who shot a 4-over 75 and is tied for 30th entering day two.

One stroke behind Garrison was sophomore Rhys Nevin, tied for 41st place at 5-over (76).

Rounding out the Vols' top-four golfers for round one was another sophomore, Jake Meenhorst. The Auckland, New Zealand, native carded an 11-over 82 and is tied for 71st place.

Redshirt freshman Sean Wilcox was Tennessee's fifth golfer for round one, sitting in 73rd place after shooting 12-over (83) on the day.
