Tennessee's Lineup UT Seeking Historic Sixth Consecutive Top-Five Team Finish
- Tennessee's five consecutive top-five finishes to start the season marks the first time a Vols team has completed that feat since the 1981-82 season.
- Tennessee has never opened the season with six consecutive top five-team finishes.
- That year, UT tied for third at the Augusta College Invitational, won the Eastern Kentucky Invitational, finished runner-up at both the Andy Bean Invitational and Dixie Intercollegiate, and then placed fourth at the Seminole Classic.
- This season, the Vols opened the fall by tying for fifth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Sept. 8-10, taking second by three strokes at The Jackrabbit on Oct. 1-3, finishing fifth at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Oct. 13-15, and then winning the East Bay Deli Classic on Oct. 29-31. Then, to begin the spring, Tennessee placed fifth in the Sea Best Invitational.
- Vols senior Lorenzo Scalise has been a steady force for Tennessee all season, and had another strong showing at the Sea Best Invitational to open the spring campaign.
- At the Sea Best Invitational, Scalise carded two rounds under par to finish 5-under 205 and in fourth place overall.
- Scalise leads Tennessee in several categories, including top-five finishes (3), rounds of par or better (10)Â and average strokes per round (70.50).
- Tennessee head coach Jim Kelson, in his 20th season at UT, currently sits at 1,985-1,378-55 in his time coaching the Vols.
- With the 23-team field in The University of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Kelson will have an opportunity to capture 2,000 wins at Tennessee in the tournament.
- Kelson is aided by third-year director of instruction/player development Sean Pacetti.
- In addition to Scalise's strong showing at the Sea Best Invitational, sophomore Jake Meenhorst got back on track for Tennessee, tying for 16th place (his best individual finish of the season) and turning in a final score of 1-over.
- Tennessee's freshmen trio of Sean Wilcox (redshirt freshman), Spencer Cross, and Chase Roswall have continued a strong inaugural campaign, with 16 rounds of par or better and four top 10 finishes between them.
- Four Vols are among the top 150 in the Golfweek Men's Collegiate Individual Rankings. The group includes Lorenzo Scalise (40th, 69.58 rating), Rhys Nevin (92nd, 70.27), Jake Meenhorst (118th, 70.53) and Sean Wilcox (122nd, 70.59).
