Tennessee Women's Golf Team Preview: Meet the Seniors

Tennessee's senior Lady Vols kick off the spring season in the Northrop Grumman today at 12:00 p.m. ET.
Last season, Newell played in 11 tournaments carding a stroke average of 73.97 and a team-leading eight top 25 finishes during her junior campaign. She shot five sub-70 rounds including two during the SEC Championship en route to recording a 17th place finish on the Greystone Course.
Newell led the Volunteers with a 72.36 average over 36 rounds as a sophomore during the 2015-16 season. She carded top-25 finishes (six top-10) in all 12 tournaments and capped off the career year in which she set two NCAA records--54-hole record for total strokes and relation to par--with a program-best fourth place finish at the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Championship. Newell was also named to the All-SEC First Team and earned WGCA First Team All-America honors.
As a freshman, Newell earned recognition within the Southeastern Conference. She was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and also made the All-SEC Second Team roster. She also distinguished herself nationally in 2015 with a 34th place finish at the NCAA Women's Golf Championship, earning Honorable Mention All-America accolades from the WGCA and Golfweek.
During a breakout junior campaign, Warren competed in 11 tournaments with a stroke avg. of 73.53 and seven top 25 finishes in 2016, including a third place finish at the 2017 Auburn vs. Tennessee Challenge. She was tabbed the SEC Player of the Week on March 22, 2017 after carding an eighth place finish at the 3M Augusta Invitational.
In 2015-16, Warren tallied the second-best finish by a Lady Vol at the 2016 NCAA Championship, tying for 58th place. A month earlier, she tied for 16th place at the SEC Championship with a five-over 221. Overall, Warren carded fourroundsor par or better and five top-25 finishes, including her first collegiate top-10 placement.
As a freshman, Warren played in five tournaments and carded three top-15 finishes.
Anna Newell (Sr. | Tampa, Fla. | Homeschooled / Northside Christian H.S.)
This season, Newell boasts a 73.58 stroke average through four tournaments and a top-three finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship after turning in a perfect card with three birdies in the final round. She also paced the Volunteers in the two-day Ocean Course Invitational with a two-over 221. The Florida native carded two rounds at or below par to finish the invite in 14th place. Blakesly Warren (Sr. | Chattanooga, Tenn. | Baylor H.S.)
Warren enters the Northrop Grumman with a season average of 74.00 and four rounds of par or better. In the fall she carded three top-25 finishes, including a 12th-place finish at the Magnolia Invitational with a score of 219 (+3).
