INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Tennessee junior Megan Murray will join senior teammate Zach Long in next week's NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin.
The NCAA released the final slate of competitors Saturday night, filling in the 31-team field with at-large entries and announcing the updated individual qualifiers. With the South Region adding two at-large women's teams in addition to the two automatic team qualifiers, Murray claimed one of the four individual entries for the region thanks to her 10th-place finish at Friday's NCAA South Region Championships.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held Nov. 17 at the University of Wisconsin's Zimmer Championship Course. The women's 6K is at 11:45 a.m. Eastern (10:45 a.m. Central), followed by the men's 10K at 12:45 p.m. Eastern (11:45 a.m. Central). Long and Murray ran on the course in September during the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
Murray (Knoxville, Tenn.) will run at the NCAA final site for the first time. She is a two-time USTFCCCA All-South Region runner, having also placed 19th at the regional meet last year. She has finished in the top 20 in all five of her races this season, including four top-10 finishes.
Long (Rutledge, Tenn.) is also a first-time qualifier for the cross country championships. He is a two-time all-region runner and placed second in the NCAA South Region 10K race Friday. Long has finished in the top 30 in all five races this season, including his first career victory at the Auburn Invitational 6K.
