WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Tennessee swimming and diving team hits the road for the first time this season for a double dual meet Friday against Purdue and Wisconsin.Â
Purdue is serving as host of the meet, which starts at 1:30 p.m. Eastern at Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center. The event will stream on BTN2Go.com (Big Ten Network Plus subscription required).Â
LAST WEEK: The No. 15 Vols (1-1) and No. 24 Lady Vols (1-1) split their season-opening home meets last week against Louisville and Alabama. The Tennessee men lost to Louisville 156-144 before rebounding for a 156-144 victory over the Crimson Tide. The Tennessee women fell to the Cardinals 155-145 and defeated Alabama 206-94.
EARLY AWARDS: Junior Erika Brown was named SEC Women's Swimmer of the Week after winning seven of eight events during the opening week, including four different individual events (50-yard freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke). Senior Zhipeng (Colin) Zeng picked up SEC Diver of the Week honors for the seventh time in two years after taking first in all four springboard events.Â
HEADING HOME: Kyle DeCoursey (Zionsville, Indiana) is set to race in his home state once again, having done so earlier in his career when the NCAA championships were held in Indianapolis. His younger sister, Gretta DeCoursey, is a sophomore freestyler for Purdue. In another Volunteer-Boilermaker connection, Emily Bretscher, a diver for Purdue, is the older sister of Lady Vol cross country and track freshman Laura Bretscher.Â
