COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tennessee will be well-represented on Team USA in December at the 2018 FINA Short Course World Championships.Â
USA Swimming announced its full roster this week with current teams members Kyle DeCoursey and Erika Brown making the cut. DeCoursey, a senior from Zionsville, Indiana, will be on the 400-meter freestyle relay team. Brown, a junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, will swim the same event for the U.S. women.Â
DeCoursey has been an 11-time All-American for the Vols and enters his final college season as the school-record holder in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. Brown is coming off a breakout sophomore season in which she won six SEC gold medals and was the NCAA silver medalist in both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. She is the reigning SEC Swimmer of the Week after winning seven of her eight events against Louisville and Alabama.Â
Associate head coach Lance Asti will serve as one of Team USA's coaches on the men's side. He is in his seventh season on Tennessee's coaching staff and was promoted from assistant to associate head coach of the men's team over the summer.Â
Decorated Lady Vol graduate Molly Hannis, who still trains in Knoxville as a member of Tennessee Aquatics, has qualified for the 50 and 100 breaststroke events at the world championships. She was a member of the 2016 U.S. Olympic team in the 200 breaststroke and is in her third year as a member of Team USA.
The 2018 championships will be held in Hangzhou, China, from December 11-16.Â
INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES: Backstroker Kira Toussaint, a 2016 Olympian, will again represent the Netherlands in her fourth world championship. Peter John Stevens (Slovenia) and Ryan Coetzee (South Africa) both wrapped up their Tennessee college careers in March and will be racing for their respective nations.Â
