Tennessee Moves Into Polls For First Time Since 2013
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's golf team begins play at The Jackrabbit on Sunday, and the Vols will enter a tournament as a ranked program for the first time since 2013.
The Vols check in to the top 25 this week at No. 23 in the Golfstat Poll, which is used for NCAA regional ranking purposes. They are even higher in the Golfweek Poll, which has the Big Orange slotted at No. 18.
Tennessee's men found a spot in the rankings for the first time since March 23, 2013, when they were rated 23rd. They went on to tie for 19th at the NCAA Championships that season.
Individually, senior Lorenzo Scalise is rated among the top-20 golfers in the nation by Golfweek, standing at No. 19 after his performance at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Sept. 8-10. He finished tied for ninth with a 5-under 211 over 54 holes. He helped Tennessee to a tie for fifth place at that tournament.
