VFL David Skinns Takes Aim At PGA TOUR Card

Runner-Up Finish At WinCo Foods Portland Open Earns Opportunity
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Former Vol golfer David Skinns has his sights set on earning a PGA TOUR card. His opportunity to pursue that goal begins Thursday in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio.
The 35-year-old native of Lincoln, England, carded a 7-under 64 on Sunday at the WinCo Foods Portland Open to tie for second place and vault from 115th to 58th on the Web.com Tour money list. That upward movement earned the 2005 SEC champion Web.com Tour status for 2018, qualified him for the four-tournament Web.com Tour Finals and put him in play to compete for a PGA TOUR card.
The two-time Tennessee All-American is slated to tee off on Thursday at 8:58 a.m. Eastern Time on The Ohio State University's Scarlet Course. Fellow VFL Rick Lamb is set to begin play at 1:25 p.m.
Skinns, who played at UT from 2001-05, was a four-time All-SEC performer. His runner-up finish on Sunday at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland was the second top-10 effort of his career.
