SUMMER UPDATE: Jackson Leads HCBL in Saves

Richard Jackson leads the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League with four saves
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Over the next few months, 16 members of the Tennessee Baseball program are playing in eight different summer leagues, ranging from Texas to Alaska to New York, where Richard Jackson leads the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League with four saves. The right-handed pitcher picked up his fourth straight save of the summer on June 24. A dependable closer, Jackson has allowed just one unearned run through 7.0 combined innings of work.

Alaska Baseball League
Anchorage Bucs - Connor Darling
Season: 1-0, 1.50 ERA, 3 G, 12.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 14 K
Darling did not appear in any games for the Anchorage Bucs this week.
Anchorage Bucs - Pete Derkay
Season: .328, 18 G, 20 H, 5 2B, 1 HR, 10 R, 11 RBI
Derkay went 4-for-4, hitting his fifth double of the season, in Game Two vs. the Miners on June 24. The catcher drove in three runs and scored three more, helping the Bucs to a 10-5 win.
Anchorage Bucs - Cal Gobbell
Season: .222, 5 G, 2 H, 1 2B, 3 R, 0 RBI
Gobbell did not appear in any games for the Anchorage Bucs this week.
Matsu Miners - Justin Ammons
Season: .317, 19 G, 20 H, 10 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 4 SB
Ammons recorded his fifth multi-hit game of the season on June 24 vs. the Bucs. He went 2-for-4 in the outing.
Matsu Miners - Brandon Chinea
Season: .243, 11 G, 9 H, 1 2B, 1 3B, 6 R, 4 RBI, 2 SB
On June 22, Chinea notched his ninth hit of the season, stole a base and scored once to help the Miners to a 4-1 victory over the Chinooks.
California Collegiate League
Santa Barbara Foresters - Daniel Vasquez
Season: 1-0, 0.95 ERA, 4 G, 19.0 IP, 14 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 19 K
Vasquez has played in four games since June 7 for the Santa Barbara Foresters. He earned his first win of the season on June 10 vs. the Long Beach Legends, throwing 6.0 shutout innings and four strikeouts.
Cape Cod Baseball League
Brewster Whitecaps - Zach Linginfelter
Season: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 G, 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Linginfelter dealt 2.0 scoreless innings on June 20 at Yarmouth-Dennis. He held Y-D to just one hit and struck out one batter in the outing.
Wareham Gatemen - Will Neely
Season: 0-1, 1.80 ERA, 3 G, 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K
In his most recent relief appearance for Wareham, Neely threw 2.0 scoreless innings at Falmouth. He allowed just one hit while striking out two of his eight batters faced.
Coastal Plain League
Edenton Steamers - Eric Freeman
Season: 2-1, 1.26 ERA, 7 G, 14.1 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 2 ER, 7 BB, 17 K
Freeman (2-1) picked up his second win of the season for the Edenton Steamers on June 26 vs. Wilson. He threw 5.0 scoreless innings in the start, allowing just one hit while striking out a season-high seven batters.
Gastonia Grizzlies - Alex Sosnowski
Season: .297, 16 G, 11 H, 7 R, 1 RBI, 3 SB
In his most recent start with Gastonia on June 24, Sosnowski went 1-for-4 and scored once. The third baseman recorded one putout and two assists in the Grizzlies' 3-1 win over Asheboro.
Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League
Westhampton Aviators - Richard Jackson
Season: 1-0, 4 SV, 0.00 ERA, 7 G, 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
Jackson earned his fourth straight save on June 24 vs. Sag Harbor. The righty tossed 0.2 shutout inning of relief in the outing. Most recently, Jackson has allowed just one unearned run through 7.0 combined innings of work this summer. His four saves rank first in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League.
New England Collegiate Baseball League
Valley Blue Sox - Andrew Schultz
Season: 0-0, 1.42 ERA, 6 G, 2 SV, 6.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 11 K
Schultz picked up his second save of the season on June 22 vs. Upper. He tossed 1.0 scoreless inning, allowing just one hit and fanning two batters in the outing.
Texas Collegiate League
Texas Marshals - Alex Harper-Cook
Season: 0-2, 1 SV, 9.00 ERA, 6 G, 16.0 IP, 18 H, 18 R, 16 ER, 15 BB, 11 K
In his most recent appearance with the Marshals on June 26, Harper-Cook struck out a season-high three batters and allowed one run on two hits.
Valley Baseball league
Staunton Braves - Jay Charleston
Season: .310, 20 G, 27 H, 3 2B, 1 3B, 16 R, 5 RBI, 22 SB
On June 25, Charleston went 2-for-5 vs. the Rebels. He hit his third double of the summer during the outing, scored once and drove in one run. The Georgia native's 22 stolen bases lead the league while his 27 hits tie for sixth.
Front Royal Cardinals - Will Heflin
Season: 0-3, 5.66 ERA, 6 G, 1 SV, 20.2 IP, 24 H, 15 R, 13 ER, 11 BB, 15 K
Heflin struck out a season-high six batters on June 17 vs. the Express. He allowed four runs on four hits through 5.0 innings of work in the loss.
Front Royal Cardinals - Luc Lipcius
Season: .359, 18 G, 23 H, 6 2B, 1 HR, 14 R, 10 RBI, 1 SB
With a hit in his June 27 appearance, Lipcius extended his current hit streak to five games (dating back to June 21). Against the Rebels on June 26, the Virginia native hit 4-for-5 and scored two runs to the Cardinals to a 14-5 win. Lipcius' .359 average leads the team.
