PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Tennessee men's golf team is tied for ninth place following Friday's opening round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club.

The Vols combined for an 8-over 296 in the first round. UCF leads the 15-team tournament at 3-under and Louisville (2-under) Liberty (1-over) round out the top three teams.
There is a four-way tie for first place as UAB's Taylor Eyster, North Texas' Thomas Rosenmueller, UCF's Manuel Elvira and East Carolina's Patrick Stephenson each headed into the clubhouse at 3-under 69.
UT freshman Jake Meenhorst is tied for 19th after carding an even-par 72. He tallied six birdies on the day, including five on the front nine, which had him at 2-under at the turn. Meenhorst had a stretch of four-straight birdies from the seventh through 10th holes.
Senior Juan Carlos Serrano sits tied for 25th. He shot a 1-over 73 and had birdies on the seventh and eighth holes.
Senior Jack Smith is tied for 36th at 3-over. Junior Lorenzo Scalise is tied for 45th at 4-over. Freshman Rhys Nevin is tied for 53rd at 5-over.
Sophomore Nolan Ray is competing as an individual and is tied for 36th at 3-over 75. He had birdies on the sixth, eighth and 10th holes.
The Vols will start Saturday's second round at 8:30 a.m. ET from the first tee with Campbell and Jacksonville. Ray will begin at the 10th tee box at 10:27 a.m. ET.
