Long, Murray Earn USFTCCCA All-Region Honors

Junior Zach Long and sophomore Megan Murray earn All-Region accolades after posting top-25 finishes at NCAA South Regional
NEW ORLEANS -- Tennessee junior Zach Long and sophomore Megan Murray have earned All-Region honors for the 2017 NCAA Division I Cross Country season, as announced on Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
A total of 225 men and 225 women from 205 programs earned the distinction by finishing among the top-25 runners at one of nine regional sites across the country.
On a conference level, the Big Ten had the most All-Region honorees with 50. Student-athletes from the SEC combined for 46, while the ACC and Pac-12 totaled 45 and 44, respectively.
Long finished 21st in the men's 10K at Friday's 2017 NCAA South Regional held at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Long crossed the finish line in 31:30.80. He was Tennessee's top finisher in each of his five 2017 races and posted three top-10 showings, including a second-place finish at the Bulldog SEC Preview on Sept. 9. Long also had 10th-place finishes at the Paul Short Run on Sept. 29 and the SEC Championships on Oct. 27. Long earned All-SEC honors.
Murray took 19th in the women's 6K at Friday's NCAA South Regional, crossing the line in 20:33.80. Murray was UT's top finisher in all six races in 2017. She had four top-20 showings, including a third-place finish in the Tennessee Dual on Sept. 2, an eighth-place finish in the Bulldog SEC Preview on Sept. 9 and a 17th-place finish in the Paul Short Run on Sept. 29.
