VOLS’ SCALISE PLAYING IN ITALIAN OPEN

UT Senior Played Practice Round With Sergio Garcia
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – While the Tennessee men's golf team will head to Jonesborough for the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, the squad's lone senior will be spending some quality time on a course back in his homeland.
Lorenzo Scalise, the Vols' captain who hails from Milan, will be competing in the Italian Open on the PGA European Tour. The event will take place Thursday through Sunday at Golf Club Milano in Parco Reale di Monza, Italy.
The UT standout got in practice rounds this week, playing with PGA Tour star Sergio Garcia. Scalise will begin play on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Italy (3:30 a.m. Eastern). Scalise was 2-under (70-72) a year ago at the Italian and missed the cut by one stroke.
Scalise has recorded a 70.67 average thus far in two tournaments with the Vols, finishing in a tie for ninth at the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate on Sept. 8-10. He has played five of six rounds at par or better.
Another former Vol, Chris Paisley tees off at 8:10 a.m. (2:10 a.m. ET).
