Recent Tennessee graduate Michael Nagy shot a 15-under 201, finishing second at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Invitational on July 25-27.
A total of four Vols participated in the event, including incoming freshmen Brayden Garrison and Hunter Wolcott. Garrison shot 5-over 221, with a low round of 70 on the first day. Wolcott tied for 35th with a 6-over 222, shooting his best round of 68 on the first day. Senior Jack Smith tied for 46th in the event, as he shot 9-over 225.
Nagy, the only golfer to shoot two rounds of 65 or lower at the event, was joined by Chattanooga's Wes Gosselin as both players shot a 7-under 65 and led the first round. Ben Wolcott (16-under 200) of Ole Miss joined the fight as he carded a 8-under 64, taking a five-stroke lead over Nagy and Gosselin.
In the final round, Nagy birdied holes 5 through 8, keeping him two shots behind Wolcott. With a birdie on hole No. 10, Nagy tied for the lead. Nagy made par on the par-5 18th, while Wolcott birdied, ultimately taking the title.
