BYDGOSZCZ, Poland -- Tennessee's Ari Cogdell won gold with the U.S. men's 4x400 relay on Sunday at the IAAF World U20 Championships.
The Americans, who entered Sunday's final with the third-fastest time in prelims, posted a winning time of 3:02.39. Cogdell ran a 45.50 second leg of the U.S. men's 4x400, which also featured Champion Allison (first leg), Kahmari Montgomery (third leg) and Wilbert London III (anchor).
Team USA edged second-place Botswana (3:02.81) at the finish line. Jamaica finished third at 3:04.83.
The U.S. quartet shaved over five seconds off of the 3:07.87 it ran to win the second heat of Saturday's prelims.
Cogdell earned a spot on the U.S. U20 team after finishing fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 46.86 in the final at last month's 2016 USA Junior Championships.
