Cogdell Advances to 4x400 Final at IAAF World U20s

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland -- Running for Team USA, Tennessee's Ari Cogdell has advanced to Sunday's men's 4x400 finals of the IAAF World U20 Championships.
The IAAF World U20 Championships started on July 19 and run through July 24 at Zawisa Stadium in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
On Saturday, Cogdell ran the second leg of the U.S. men's 4x400 squad that won Heat 2 with a time of 3:07.87. Team USA led from start to finish with a 400-meter split of 45.91, an 800-meter split of 1:34.00 and a 1200-meter split of 2:20.83. Champion Allison (first leg), Kahmari Montgomery (third leg) and Wilbert London III (anchor) were the other three members of the relay.
The Americans posted the third-fastest time of the prelims behind Botswana's 3:03.75 and Japan's 3:07.59 in the first heat. The men's 4x400 final is Sunday at 11:50 a.m. ET.
Cogdell earned a spot on the U.S. U20 team after finishing fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 46.86 in the final at last month's 2016 USA Junior Championships.
