UT Women Finish Impressive Outdoor Campaign at NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Tennessee women wrapped an outstanding 2016 outdoor track and field season with the finals of the 2016 NCAA Championships at Hayward Field.
UT finished tied for 29th with 8.0 points. Arkansas won the women's title with 72.0 points.
Felicia Brown, who is the 2016 USTFCCCA South Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, capped a fantastic senior year with a sixth place finish in the women's 200-meter final, crossing the line in 22.67 (+1.9). She has emerged as one of the world's top 200-meter sprinters and will return to Hayward Field for the U.S. Olympic Trials from July 1-10. She is qualified for the 100 meters and 200 meters.
Battling through injury, Felecia Majors took eighth in the women's 400-meter final in 59.68. She is an All-American in both the outdoor (First Team) and indoor (Second Team) 400 meters in 2016. She took ninth in the 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. Majors has qualified in the 400 meters for the U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field.
Chelsea Blaase took 10th in the women's 5,000 meters in 16:12.82 to earn Second Team All-American honors. O, Blaase finished fifth in the women's 10,000-meter final on Thursday to earn First Team All-American accolades in that event. Saturday's race capped an impressive 2015-16 athletic year for Blaase, who garnered All-American honors for the 2015 cross country season and the 2016 indoor and outdoor track campaigns. She has earned All-America honors in her last six sport seasons and seven overall.
The Tennessee women's 4x100 of Felicia Brown, Kali Davis-White, Cidae'a Woods and Maia McCoy did not finish Saturday's final as the baton was dropped on the final exchange.
Saturday's attendance was reported at 12,941.
On Friday, the Tennessee men finished with 30.0 points to place sixth overall for the Vols' first top-10 showing at the NCAA Outdoor Championship since finishing fourth in 2007. Jake Blankenship won the men's pole vault title on Wednesday. Christian Coleman took second place in the men's 100 meters and 200 meters and finished with 16 points (third-most at the meet). Nathan Strother placed fifth in the 400 meters.
