Coleman Qualifies For Olympic Trials With Blazing 10.16

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee sophomore Christian Coleman's 10.16 100-meter time on Friday at the Pepsi Florida Relays is a Rio 2016 Olympic Games A entry standard and qualifies him for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.
The 2016 USOT qualifying standard and the IAAF Rio 2016 Olympic Games A entry standard for the men's 100 meters is 10.16.
U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be held July 1-10 in Eugene, Ore.
Coleman's 10.16 currently ranks fourth in the nation and second in the NCAA East Region.
His 10.16 also ranks 10th in Tennessee history and is the fastest 100 meters by a Vol since Evander Wells ran 10.08 and Rubin Williams ran 10.12 in 2008.
Coleman, who won the 2016 NCAA Indoor title in the 200 meters, also ran on Tennessee's 4x200 and 4x400 relays on Saturday. The UT 4x200 placed third among college squads with a time of 1:22.92 and the 4x400 placed third with a time of 3:06.37.
Tennessee next competes in the Seminole Invitational on April 15-16 in Tallahassee, Fla.
