BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee senior Felicia Brown has been named the SEC Track and Field Women's Runner of the Week, as announced on Tuesday by the conference office.
Brown ran the nation's fastest 200-meter time at the Seminole Invitational on Saturday, winning in a Tennessee-record 22.55 (+0.4). That time broke an 18-year-old UT record formerly held by Kelli White (22.58 +1.2 in 1998). Brown now owns the nation's top indoor 200m (22.45) and top outdoor 200m (22.55) in 2016.
She also ran a personal-best 11.40 (12th in the nation) to take second place in the 100 meters and ran on UT's winning 4x100m squad (43.52) and 4x400m squad (3:33.95).
Brown is the first UT student-athlete to earn SEC weekly honors for the 2016 outdoor season and this week's honors mark her first-ever SEC weekly accolades for the outdoor season. She was a three-time SEC Women's Runner of the Week during the 2016 indoor season (Jan. 12, Jan. 26, Feb. 9). Brown is the first Tennessee student-athlete to earn SEC outdoor weekly honors since Tavis Bailey was the SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week on May 5, 2015.
Tennessee heads down to Baton Rouge, La., this week to compete in the LSU Alumni Gold meet on Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium.
