Seminole Invitational
Coleman, Brown, Davis-White Shine at Seminole Invite
April 16, 2016 | Track & Field
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Christian Coleman, Felicia Brown and Kali Davis-White recorded Olympic A standards and Tennessee added 18 personal bests at the Seminole Invitational on Saturday at Mike Long Track.
"Overall this was a great weekend," Tennessee director of track and field and cross country Beth Alford-Sullivan said. "We showed up at Florida State with the emphasis on going to work. We came in and did extremely well. It was a very long weekend for our sprint crew, especially with the 4x100, 100, 200, 400, 4x400 doing the work and handling themselves extremely well."
"All the way around, we had a great showing from our young people. We still have a lot to do and we still have a lot to put together. But the purpose of the weekend was to go to Tallahassee and compete hard and be the best team at the competition. That was our goal and that's what we did."
Coleman continued to thrive in the men's 100 meters, clocking a new PR of 10.11 to improve his U.S. Trials qualifying mark and Olympic A standard. Coleman shaved 0.05 seconds off of his previous career best.
Brown, who already had a U.S. Trials qualifying mark and Olympic A standard with a 22.45 in the women's indoor 200 meters, ran an outdoor PR 22.55 to win the 200 meters on Saturday. Brown now owns the top women's indoor 200-meter mark and the top women's outdoor 200-meter mark in the nation (professional and collegiate) of 2016. Davis-White clocked a pair of Olympic A standards. She won the women's 100 meters with a PR time of 11.27 and took second in the 200 meters with a PR mark of 22.86.
The UT men tallied three wins on Saturday and the UT women racked up five victories.
