Coleman, Blaase Earn Co-MVPs at SEC Indoors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Tennessee's Christian Coleman and Chelsea Blaase were named co-winners of the men's and women's Cliff Harper Awards, capping an impressive showing by UT on Saturday at the 2016 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center.

The Cliff Harper Award is given to the athletes who score the most points at the SEC Championships. On the men's side, Coleman totaled 20 points to tie Ole Miss' Ryan Walling. Coleman took gold in the men's 60 meters and silver in the 200 meters and 4x400-meter relay. Blaase tallied 20 points, tying LSU's Mikiah Brisco. Blaase took gold in both the 3000 meters and the 5000 meters.
Arkansas swept the SEC team titles, winning the men's crown with 109 points and the women's with 110.
The Tennessee women finished tied for fourth place with 64 points and tallied four gold medals (200 meters, 3000 meters, 5000 meters, 4x400 relay) and one silver (shot put). Like Blaase, Felicia Brown was a two-time gold medalist, winning the 200 meters in a school record and world-leading 22.45 and running anchor on UT's school-record setting 4x400 (3:30.56).
Lenysse Dyer, Felecia Majors and Layla White joined Brown on the winning 4x400m relay.
The UT men placed eighth, scoring 47 points. The men collected two golds (60 meters, weight throw), two silvers (200 meters, 4x400 relay) and one bronze (pole vault). Cameron Brown took gold in the weight throw with a throw of 22.28m (73-1.75)
Ari Cogdell, Antonio Carter and Nathan Strother joined Coleman on the 4x400 relay.
ESPN will air a re-broadcast of the 2016 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
Tennessee shifts its focus to the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held March 11-12 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
