PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Senior Michael Nagy opened his spring season with a season-low 67 in the first round and sits in a tie for 11th after two rounds of play at the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Nagy's two-round performance bolstered the Vols on the opening day. Tennessee is in ninth place after shooting a 6-over 286 in the first round and a 15-over 295 in the second.
Nagy, Chad Merzbacher and Lorenzo Scalise finished the day in the top 30. Nagy shot 1-over Monday, while Merzbacher and Scalise both checked into the clubhouse at 6-over and in a tie for 28th.
With the opening round 67, Nagy finished the first round in fifth. His 3-under included five birdies. Tennessee finished the first round in sixth, shooting a 286.
Junior Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara sits in a tie for 49th after shooting 9-over, while fellow junior Jack Smith shot 16-over.
Freshman Nick Mattner, who is competing as an individual, is 10-over after two rounds.
Florida leads the Sea Best Invitational by a commanding 19 strokes after posting rounds of 265 and 278. The Gators are 17-under, followed by North Carolina at 2-over.
