UT Men's Golf Gives Back To Gatlinburg
December 08, 2016 | Men's Golf
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee men's golf senior Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara, sophomore Felipe Strobach and freshman Rhys Nevin-Wharton took part in a recent Tennessee student-athlete initiative to give back to those who have suffered tremendous loss from the recent wildfires.
On Dec. 2, Serrano Guevara, Strobach, Nevin-Wharton and fellow Tennessee student-athletes collected and delivered bottled water, blankets and other donated goods for people of Gatlinburg and other parts of Sevier County.
Just over one week ago, wildfires raged through the Great Smoky Mountains and into nearby communities. Gatlinburg is roughly 40 miles from Knoxville and its heartache is shared by everyone in the Big Orange family. Local engagement is one of the core values of the Volunteer spirit and Tennessee's student-athletes did not hesitate to dedicate their time and effort to help other members of the community in their time of need.
