AUBURN, Ala. — Tennessee sophomore Emily Pelletier took third in women’s platform and senior Michael Howell finished fourth in men’s platform Monday to conclude the Auburn Diving Invitational.
Howell recorded a career-best 326.00 over his six-dive list, finishing less than three points away from third-place finisher Brent Sagert of Alabama. Sophomore Nick Rusek took seventh (306.80).
Adding new dives to her list, Pelletier took third on the women’s platform with a score of 223.20. Sophomore Sean Meyers was 16th with 171.15.
“Overall, today was excellent for us as far as results were concerned,” Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington said. “It was a career high for Michael Howell, placing fourth against a good field. He was a model of consistency today. After missing his first two days, Nick was very steady over the next rounds. I was very excited for the two of them.
“On the women’s side, Emily was very solid, placing third while trying some new dives. Sean had an up and down day, but it was a good experience for her. We got stronger with each day, which is a testament to our strength program, led by Holly Frantz.”
The UT diving team kicks off 2017 with the Tennessee Diving Invitational, which will be held at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center from January 3-5.
