Tennessee (1-2) dropped a 74-62 decision to No. 16 Wisconsin in the tournament opener on Monday. The Vols trailed by as many as 17 in the first half, but the Vols erased that deficit behind 12 first-half points from Detrick Mostella and eventually took the lead early in the second half. But the Badgers' experienced lineup weathered the storm and used a late run to pull past the Vols and into the tournament's second round.
Shembari Phillips led Tennessee with 16 points, including 10 in the second half. Phillips buried a trio of three-pointers, one shy of tying his career best. Robert Hubbs III had 12 points and converted a couple late baskets to keep the Vols within reach down the stretch.
No. 13 Oregon enters Tuesday's game off a 65-61 defeat at the hands of Georgetown. Payton Pritchard scored 18 points off the bench to lead the Ducks and Chris Boucher had seven points and a game-high 13 boards.
