BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Meghan Small was named SEC Swimmer of the Week and Liam Stone was named SEC Diver of the Week after their performances against Auburn, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Tennessee split its dual meet on Friday with the women winning 12 of 16 events to defeat Auburn 171-129. The UT men lost 162-139.
Small led the women’s team by recording the first three-win meet of her young career. The native of Lineboro, Maryland, won the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.03), the 200 backstroke (1:56.01) and the 400 individual medley (1:56.01). Her times in the 200 freestyle and backstroke were seasons bests, and the meet marked her first collegiate 400 IM.
Stone, the reigning NCAA 1-meter champion, swept both springboards on the men’s side for the second time this season. He won the 1-meter contest with a season-best score of 418.80, his first time above 400 this year. He also won the 3-meter competition with 401.78.
The Vols are wrapping up the college fall season this weekend with a championship-format meet at N.C. State, which runs Thursday through Saturday.
