Smith, Vols Lead East Bay Classic After First Round

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- After Day One of the Kiawah Golf Classic at Turtle Point Golf Course (par 72, 6,911 yards), Tennessee men's golf holds a three-stroke lead over the 22-team field with a score of 285. Senior Jack Smith is also atop the leaderboard with a four-under-par 68.

Smith, a Knoxville native, carded five birdies including four on the back nine to pace the Orange and White. He holds a one-stroke lead over Jacksonville State's Pablo Torres heading into Monday's second round.
Sitting just four strokes behind Smith, Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara and Brayden Garrison are tied for 13th place. The pair each recorded three birdies en route to their even-par rounds.
Freshman Hunter Wolcott rounded out scoring for the Volunteers with a one-over 73 while Lorenzo Scalise carded 75 (+3). They are tied for 28th place and 44th place, respectively.
Competing as an individual for Tennessee, Rhys Nevin-Wharton shot 83 and tied for 107th place.
Monday's second round starts at 10:00 a.m. ET in a shotgun start.
