January 26, 2016 | Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee senior Felicia Brown has been named SEC Women's Runner of The Week for the second time this season, as announced by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday.
Brown earns SEC Women's Runner of the Week for Week 3 after previously earning the honors for Week 1 on Jan. 12. She is the first Tennessee student-athlete to earn SEC Women's Runner of the Week for the indoor season multiple times in the same season since Sarah Bowman garnered the honors three times in 2009. Tennessee has collected four SEC weekly honors so far this indoor season as Christian Coleman was SEC Men's Runner of the Week for Week 1 and Ari Cogdell was SEC Men's Freshman of the Week for Week 2.
Brown enjoyed an outstanding weekend at the Conference Clash Power Five Invitational, winning the women's 200 meters in a Tennessee-record time of 22.88 and taking third in the 60 meters with a prelim time of 7.30 (eighth-best in the country) and a finals time of 7.32. Brown's 22.88 200-meter time ranks first in the nation and broke the record UT set by Courtney Champion (22.92) in 2007. Brown's 7.30 time in the 60 meters ranks eighth in the nation. Brown also ran the anchor leg of Tennessee's women's 4x400, which took second place with a time of 3.34.43, which ranks fourth nationally.
Tennessee led all of the SEC women's teams with 22 points at this past week's Conference Clash Power Five Invitational in Birmingham. Including the 4x400 relay, Brown accounted for nine of those points. The SEC women fell to the 'Power 4' women, 85.50-84.50.
UT next competes in the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 29-30 in Nashville at the Vanderbilt Multi-Purpose Facility.
