ORLANDO, Fla. — Tennessee rising junior Michael Howell reached the semifinals of his first senior national event Thursday, taking 17th on platform at the AT&T USA Diving National Championships.
Howell scored 263.05 in his six-dive list in the afternoon semifinals. He had a score of 268.25 in the morning preliminaries.
“Michael showed some signs of inexperience at this level, but at least he was here to gain the exposure and feel what it is like to dive at a national championship,” Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington said. “I’m proud of him and know he will continue to build upon this in the coming season.”
