Polo Wins Field, Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Rising junior Lucia Polo became the second Tennessee Volunteer to win her respective qualifying field for the U.S. Women's Amateur.
Polo, who just recently represented Guatemala at the first ever Pan Am Golf Tournament, won her sectional qualifier with a career low round of 67. She played at the Sportsman's Country Club in Northbrook, Illinois.
Polo will join Tennessee teammate Anna Newell at the U.S. Women's Amateur in Portland, Oregon at the Portland Golf Club from August 10-16. The event features two rounds of stroke play with the top 64 advancing to match play.
This will be Polo's first appearance at the U.S. Women's Amateur event.
