KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee women's golf players Anna Newell and Lucia Polo were both named Golfweek Honorable Mention All-Americans. This marks the second All-American honor for Newell and first for Polo.
"It's exciting to have two players named to the Golfweek All American teams," head coach Judi Pavon said. "Both Lucia and Anna had great seasons, and this reflects their hard work and steady play all year. I'm very proud of both of them for earning this honor."
In May, Newell was named a Women's Golf Coach Association (WGCA) Honorable Mention All-American. Newell finished in a tie for 34th place at the NCAA Championships. In her freshman campaign, Newell carded four top 10 finishes, including a runner-up finish.
Polo had a standout sophomore season carding 14 rounds at par or better and five top-10 finishes. Polo had the team's second best average, just behind Newell. During the NCAA Championships, Polo finished in a tie for 49th place. She recorded her first career round under 70 at the NCAA San Antonio Regional where she finished in a tie for sixth.
