Merzbacher Posts Even Par Second Round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Competing in the San Diego Regional, junior Chad Merzbacher posted a second round 72 (E) to move him to a tie for 43rd place at 6-over par heading to Saturday morning's third and final round.
Merzbacher entered the second round at 6-over par, and maintained it throughout the entire round. He began the second round on the back-nine, posting bogeys on 12 and 14 but answering back with birdies on 15 and 17 to make the turn at even par.
The Ohio native carded another birdie on the par-4 3rd, but dropped two strokes with a double-bogey on the sixth. Merzbacher immediately got one of the strokes back with a birdie on the par-4 seventh to bring his score back to even with two holes to play. Merzbacher dropped a stroke with a bogey on the eighth, but once again ended the day on a good note, carding his fifth birdie of the round on the par-5 18th to bounce back to even par.
Merzbacher (T-43, +6) will begin his final round off the 10th tee at 1:01 p.m. (EST) Saturday afternoon.
The six 54-hole regional tournaments will conclude May 16. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
