Vols Finish 12th at 2015 SEC Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- The Tennessee men's golf team capped off its weekend at the 2015 SEC Championship with a final round 284 (+4). The Vols finished in 12th place with a 54-hole total of 860 (+20).
On the final day of competition, freshman Lorenzo Scalise was the highest finisher for the Vols. The Italian climbed 18 spots on the leaderboard to a T-27 finish at 2-over par. Starting on the back, Scalise's final round got off to a tough start with a bogey on the 10th. The freshman proceeded to play bogey free the rest of the round and shoot 3-under on the front en route to an impressive final round 68 (-2).
Sophomore Jack Smith turned in his best round of the tournament on Sunday. The Knoxville native carded a final round 70 (E), including three birdies and three bogeys. Smith finished in a tie for 44th at 6-over par. Fellow sophomore, Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara, posted his second consecutive 74 (+4) to bring his weekend total to 7-over. Serrano finished tied for 47th place.
Juniors Michael Nagy and Chad Merzbacher rounded out the Volunteer's lineup, both shooting 73 (+3) in the final round. Nagy was consistent on the weekend, shooting 73 during all three rounds. Nagy's final round included three birdies to bring his tournament total to seven. Merzbacher's final round 73 brought his weekend total to 219 (+9). Both Merzbacher and Nagy finished tied for 53rd place at 9-over par.
Alabama, leader after two rounds, fell apart on Sunday, leaving the door wide open for LSU to step through. The Tigers shot a final round 281 (+1) to claim the 2015 SEC Championship by three strokes. South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith continued his strong play by firing a final round 67 (-3) to capture the individual title by six strokes at 14-under par.
